This is to remind you that the Forum will be holding a breakfast seminar on July 12, featuring Dr. Jong-Hag CHOI, a professor at SNU’s College of Business Administration, as our speaker. Professor Choi will make a presentation on the topic of "Finding the Hidden World through Financial Statements," while also touching on his experience as a statistician in public policymaking. Dr. Jong-Hag Choi has been a professor of accounting at Seoul National University’s College of Business Administration since 2006. Recently, as an expert member of the Presidential Transition Committee, Professor Choi played an important role in shaping the policy agenda of the new government. As an esteemed scholar in his field, Professor Choi has served on the editorial board of many prestigious academic journals including
. He started his academic career as a professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (2000-2006), and later as a visiting scholar at City University of Hong Kong (2010-2011, 2018). His current research interests lie in financial accounting, auditing, voluntary disclosure, and corporate governance. Professor Choi graduated from Seoul National University with a B.B.A. in 1990, earning his M.B.A. from the same university in 1992. He received his Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2000.
Given the speaker’s distinguished career and expertise as well as the importance of the topic at hand, particularly against the backdrop of today’s economic, financial, and geopolitical uncertainties, I believe the upcoming seminar will be a rare opportunity to gain valuable insight into the world hidden in plain sight.
