Dear Members:

I am pleased to inform you that the Forum will be holding a breakfast seminar featuring Dr. Christopher Byungho SUH, Senior Research Fellow at the Korea Institute of Finance, as our speaker on March 12. Dr. Suh will speak on the topic of "Internationalization of Korean Financial Companies," focusing on Korean financial companies' expansion into the overseas markets. The time and venue for the seminar are as follows:

1. Dr. Suh will speak in English.
2. The 2019 General Membership Meeting to be held during breakfast.

Dr. Suh began his career as a Senior Research Fellow at the KIF in 2006 after earning his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in 2001 and 2006, respectively. Since then, Dr. Suh has been actively involved in policy research and policy advisory activities for local financial authorities and regulators. He has served on numerous local commissions including – the Administrative Guidance Commission (2018 - present) and the Insurance RAAS Commission (2017) under FSS (Financial Supervisory Service); as well as the Planning Commission of the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency (2018 - present), etc. Other key posts include - project leader of the FSS Task Force on Impact of the 4th Industrial Revolution (2016 - 2017); Senior Advisor to the Governor of the FSS (2016 - 2017); member of the Expert Council on Licensing of Internet Primary Banks (2015); and the FSC (Financial Services Commission)’s Expert Council on Self Evaluation (2015 - 2016), to name a few. His research interests include economics theory, corporate finance, bank management, bankruptcy, and industrial organization. Dr. Suh received his B.A. in History from Seoul National University in 1999.

Given the caliber of our speaker and the significance of the topic at hand, the upcoming seminar will no doubt prove to be very informative. For this reason and more, I strongly urge all SFF members to please attend.
